I love visiting the LA Auto Show and learning about the newest cars including the concept cars and their specs. Having bought several cars in the past, I consider myself to be an experienced car buyer. Therefore, I thought it would be easy to buy a new Chevrolet Bolt EUV to begin our family’s journey to fossil fuel independence.

This year, I was looking to buy an electric powered vehicle (also known as an EV) as a gift to celebrate my daughter’s 16^th birthday. Due to the COVID Pandemic, we couldn’t throw her the party she wanted so we decided to give her the kind of freedom that only an electric powered vehicle can provide 😊. Our family is trying very hard to reduce our carbon footprint.

I’ve bought many kinds of cars from car dealers and had to deal with many frustrating tactics from dealership sales staff. One time, I had finally reached a deal to purchase a new pickup truck and realized at the last minute that the numbers in my financing agreement didn’t match what we had previously negotiated! Thankfully I realized this before signing the final contract that the sales staff had added a bunch of line items that we hadn’t agreed on (like security locks for the wheels and paint insurance) and I didn’t fall for his tactic to upsell me on features I didn’t need or that were bogus. As you can imagine, my previous experience with car shopping hasn’t been all great.

I visited several dealers to negotiate a good deal on a new 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV, but many sales staff played games with me – they would switch sales personnel to see if one of them could convince me to take a bad deal and none of them would make an offer in writing that I could compare with other dealers.
